Apply as a degree-seeking student

Jayhawk Global degree-seeking students must follow the admission process of their online KU program.

Online Bachelor’s Degree-completion Programs

KU online undergraduate programs are considered degree-completion programs and only major courses are guaranteed to be offered fully online.

Degree-completion programs are designed for students who have already completed their Associate of Art (AA), Associate of Science (AS), or general education/core curriculum requirements and are ready to enroll in their major courses to complete their full four-year bachelor’s degree.

    UG Admission FAQs

Domestic TRANSFER and READMIT applicants ARE eligible to apply.

    • Transfer students are students who have taken post-secondary courses after graduating from high school — this includes college, university, and vocational coursework.
    • Readmit students are students who have previously attended KU as a freshman or a transfer student.

NOTE: At this time, general education courses/core curriculum at KU are taught in the traditional in-person, on-campus format. Therefore, if you are interested in a fully online program, we suggest that you have already completed your Associate of Art (AA), Associate of Science (AS), or general education/core curriculum requirements and are ready to enroll in your major courses to complete your full four-year bachelor’s degree.

Domestic FRESHMAN applicants are NOT eligible for admission.

    • Freshman students include anyone who is currently in high school and/or anyone who earned college credit through their high school program.

Non-residential and residential INTERNATIONAL freshman, transfers and readmits are NOT eligible for admission.

    • Definitions for domestic and international freshman, transfer and readmits are the same.
    • Non-residential international students are students who plan to remain in their home country and not relocate to the U.S. or obtain any non-immigrant visa.
    • Residential international students are students who will enter the U.S. on any non-immigrant visa, as well as students in any non-immigrant status who are already in the U.S.
    • Students who hold or seek U.S. citizen or immigrant status are considered domestic students. This includes students who have been approved or have applied for DACA or entered the U.S. without inspection. Please see above for domestic applicant eligibility.
    • If you are still unsure if you are considered an international student, International Support Services can help you determine your international status.

All transfer or readmit domestic students are eligible to apply, as we individually review each application for these factors:

    • Cumulative high school GPA.
    • ACT or SAT scores, if available.
    • GPA in the core curriculum.
    • Strength of courses.
    • College transcripts, if sent.

*Only domestic students are eligible to apply to undergraduate online programs at this time.

    Minimum admission requirements

Transfer students are assured admission to the University with 24+ transferable credit hours at a GPA of 2.5 or higher from a regionally accredited community college, college, or university.

NOTE: General education/Core courses at KU are taught in the traditional in-person, on-campus format. Find additional details in the next dropdown.

If you are admitted to an online bachelor’s degree-completion program as a transfer or readmit student who still needs to complete additional general education and/or core courses, you will be required to complete these courses, which at KU are only taught in the traditional in-person, on-campus format. The only fully online courses for these bachelor’s degree completion programs are the courses identified as major courses by the program.

If you are admitted to the online degree-completion program but are required to enroll in more than two on-campus courses in a single semester, your program plan will automatically change to the on-campus program plan. This modification may change your tuition and fees. This may be a significant change especially if you are not a Kansas resident who receives in-state tuition rates or within the 11 counties that qualifies you for the MetroRate.

Each transfer or readmit student has a unique set of circumstances, so we strongly suggest you meet as soon as possible with your program contact for a credit transfer evaluation and to start building your personalized success path. Our Academic Success Navigators are waiting to assist you and can help set up the appropriate appointments to get you moving in the right direction.
