How Jayhawk Flex Works
Jayhawk Flex uses a competency-based education (CBE) model. This approach lets you set the pace, build on your experience, and complete your degree on your schedule.you’ve spent in a course.

Tuition, Cost and Return on Investment
Jayhawk Flex is designed to give you flexibility not just in how you learn, but also in how you invest in your education. Instead of traditional credit-hour tuition, Jayhawk Flex uses a flat-rate tuition model, with two options available: full-time and part-time.
Tuition details
The tuition rate is charged per subscription period for part-time (up to 5 competencies in a subscription period) or full-time (6+ competencies in a subscription period).
Your tuition covers:
- Access to the full set of learning modules for the competencies you choose each subscription period
- Every module is offered every subscription period, so you can complete requirements on your own timeline without waiting for specific course rotations
- Support from KU faculty and advisors
- Online tools and resources to help you succeed
The more modules you complete in a subscription period, the more progress you make toward your degree, without paying more.

Federal Financial Aid
The Jayhawk Flex program is not currently eligible for federal financial aid under Title IV of the Higher Education Act. However, students may be able to use employer tuition benefits, private scholarships or alternative funding options. University of Kansas financial aid counselors are available to help you explore what’s available to you.
Military education benefits
If you’re eligible for VA education benefits, you may be able to apply those toward Jayhawk Flex tuition. KU is proud to support military-connected students, and our Military-Affiliated Student Center (MASC) can help you navigate eligibility and application steps for programs such as:

Master of Science in Project Management
